Family Fun at Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor

Travelers to the Chicago area have a variety of attractions from which they can choose. The great thing about Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor is that you can always count on the parks to deliver a good time for everyone in the family.

The rides and attractions offer something that everyone will love.

Great America Rides

Great America is known for its incredible thrill rides. It has some of the best roller coasters in the nation, and is the perfect place for the thrill seeker to get their fill. Some of the most popular thrill rides include The Dark Knight Coaster, Superman: Ultimate Flight, and Iron Wolf, the world’s tallest, fastest, stand-up looping roller coaster. Other great coasters include Demon and the wooden coaster American Eagle.

The park offers some rides that are perfect for those who don’t want the screaming thrills the coasters provide. Loggers Run, River Rocker, and the Scenic Railway are all fun.

You will find many more great rides in Great America as well. You can keep busy there for day.

Hurricane Harbor Rides

The water park is no slouch when it comes to providing great rides. The six-story Tornado provides thrills for the whole family, as do the Vortex and Typhoon. Hurricane Bay is a huge wave pool filled with half a million gallons of water that is great fun for everyone.

The smaller children will also find fun in Hurricane Harbor as well. Buccaneer Bay Provides a fun and safe place to play.

For the Kids

Many of the attractions at the parks are geared specifically for the small children so they don’t feel left out of riding the big rides, such as the roller coasters, with their older siblings. The little ones can find plenty to keep them busy at the park.

Bugs Bunny National Park has some great rides for the kids, including the Looney Tooter Train, and Yosemite Sam’s National Park Tour. Camp Cartoon also has some great rides and attractions for the younger crowd. Both of these themed areas are located in the Yukon section of the park.

Kids will also enjoy Skull Island in Hurricane Harbor. They can play on a waterslides, and "erupting volcano," and get soaked by huge water-filled buckets.

Most kids will also want to see Wiggles World, a themed area dedicated to the popular singing and dancing Wiggles.

General admission to the park for adults is $54.99, and kids less than 48" tall are $34.99. Kids 2 and under are free.

Take I-88 East to I-294 North in Illinois. Take I-294 North until it becomes I-94 West. Continue on I-94 West and exit on Grand Avenue (Rt. 132) east in Gurnee, Illinois. Six Flags is located on the right.

FROM INDIANA AND MICHIGAN

Take Tri-State Hwy. 80/94 West. Continue into Illinois and take I-294 West. Stay on I-294 West until it becomes I-94 West. Continue on I-94 West and exit on Grand Avenue (Rt. 132) east in Gurnee, Illinois. Six Flags is located on the right.
Approximate driving time: 1 hour, 35 minutes.

OR Take the Skyway (I-90 West) through Chicago to the Dan Ryan Expwy.
(I-90/94 West). Continue on I-90/94 West; it will become the Kennedy Expressway. 90/94 West near downtown Chicago. When 90/94 splits, continue on I-94 West and exit on Grand Avenue (Rt. 132) east in Gurnee, Illinois.

FROM PEORIA/BLOOMINGTON

Take I-55 North to I-294 West. Take I-294 West until it becomes I-94 West. Continue on I-94 West and exit on Grand Avenue (Rt. 132) east in Gurnee, Illinois. Six Flags is located on the right.
