Franklin Creek Grist Mill & Interpretive Center - Franklin Grove, Illinois

Franklin Creek Grist Mill & Interpretive Center - Dixon, Illinois This 4-story reconstructed 1847 grist mill has a 4-ton waterwheel, powers pulleys, and gears to turn mill stones to grind corn like 1800’s milling equipment on display. The mill was built in 1999 by volunteer workers.

This is the state’s only truly water-powered grist mill ground cornmeal for the public. The basement and first floor are used for the actual grinding and milling operation, while the second and third floors are planned as a Burning center.

Visitors see milling demonstrations and learn about the mill with a series of displays and exhibits.
