The Pecatonica Prairie Path and Bike Trail - Pecatonica, Illinois

The depot was built in 1854 and used by the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad and now is a museum for the city.
Batavia railroad history comes alive in a permanent exhibit about the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad (est. 1850), the Chicago & North Western Railroad (est. 1872) and the Chicago, Aurora & Elgin Electric Line (est. 1902).

Long Prairie Trail - Northern Boone County, Illinois
The 14.2 mile asphalt trail provides a safe opportunity for long distance bicycling, skating, and walking with very few rural crossroads.
It contains several interpretive signs which explain the history of the area as well as specifics about the rail line which once rolled along the same path.
Pettit Memorial Chapel - Belvidere, Illinois
One of the few chapels ever designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
It was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on December 1, 1978. The chapel is an early example of Frank Lloyd Wright’s famed Prairie style. It is the only work of the specific type, a structure meant for a cemetery setting, Wright ever created.

Galena History Museum - Galena, Illinois
The museum is located in a beautiful Italianate home built as a private residence by Galena merchant Daniel Barrows. The Barrows house today is filled with over 6,000 square feet of exhibit space. Between exhibits and storage area, the building houses over 10,000 artifacts collected since 1938.
