For over 41 years the Volo Auto Museum has drawn crowds from all over the world to see the collection.  With over 300 classic cars on display there is something for everyone to enjoy.  Along with that, all of the cars that are on display are available for purchase.

The museum is the home to the world’s largest muscle car collection and the George Barris TV & Movie car collection.  Along with that you will be able to see a 1943 White M16 Halftrack that was originally sold to Universal Studios for filming of several major war movies.  In 1978 it was sold to the Volo Auto Museum where it was eventually involved in an extensive restoration.

You will also be able to see a 1967 Bell helicopter #355 that was used in combat in Vietnam and shot down by hostile fire.  It was rebuilt at Corpus Cristi Army Depot.  It was then served 3 years with the 70th transportation battalion in Mannheim, Germany.  You can now see it at the Volo Museum.

Built by the British and currently used in places like Bosnia and Iraq a Sulton Command Vehicle is on display for you to enjoy.  The crew consists of six-a driver, commander, radio operators, clerks and staff members.  Equipped with a tent that extends from the rear of the vehicle to give the crew more space.  It’s top speed is 50 mph.  It has a Jaguar 6 cylinder engine and automatic transmission.

There are a number of other military vehicles for you to see at the museum, so come and enjoy and learn.

For the kids there are rides, a Batmobile, the actual Hudson Hornet used to design and build the famed Doc Hudson for Disney, Pixars movie “Cars.”  They also have Herbie.  The restored “Beauty Car’ and the personality car that comes alive by remote control.  It is still wearing its Hollywood makeup.

Michael Andretti’s Indi 500 race car is there too.  Climb on in, sit and watch the video on the big screen in front of you and feel just like you are on the race course.  Who wouldn’t enjoy that?

There are so many more cars that kids will enjoy, Scooby-Doo, The Cat in the Hat, Ghostbusters and more.

You will be able to see Britney Spears Mercedes every Wed. and Sat. on the FREE Trolley Tour.  Maybe you would rather see Alice Coopers custom GTO, Oprah’s Bentley Azure, a $329k birthday gift, the last car owned by Groucho Marx, a 1973 Cadillac, Rod Stewart’s Viper, Michael Jordan’s Bentley, and more are available on the Free Trolly Tour.

Admission to the museum: $9.95 Adults, $6 for children and the combination event/museum ticket Adult $11.95 and children $9.95.

Seniors (65 and over), veterans with ID and active personnel at $7.95.  Children 5 – 12 $5.95 and under 4 are free.  All military personnel in uniform get in free.

Hours: 7 Days a week from 10 am to 5 pm.  Closed on Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The museum is located about 50 miles north of Chicago, 50 miles east of Rockford and 50 miles southwest of Milwaukee.

FROM CHICAGO:
- take route 94 north to route 120 west, ¼ mile past route 12 at the red 57 Chevrolet make a right onto Volo Village Road.

FROM MILWAUKEE:
- take route 94 south to Milwaukee ave / IL-21 exit and merge onto route 120 west. ¼ mile past route 12 at the red 57 Chevrolet make a right onto Volo Village Road.

FROM ROCKFORD:
- take route 20 east to route 23, turn left to route 176 turn right to route 12, turn left to route 120, turn left.  At the red 57 Chevrolet make a right onto Volo Village Road
