Heritage Museum, Berger- Kiel Log House - Mascoutah, Illinois

This farmstead site includes one large barn, two smaller machine sheds, a slaughter house, a wash house/summerkithcen type of structure, a chicken house, and a dog house. There is also a working well. An outhouse will be reconstructed in the future.

Since 1995 the Mascoutah Historical Society has been working to restore the Berger-Kiel House, a ca. 1863 log house that was placed on the national register in August 1999. (Research is HABS I1-1186.) Plans are to open the House to the general public on a regular basis upon completion of restoration.

Currently it is difficult to get to the farmstead, but it should be open for ease of access soon.
