The highlight of Cahokia Mounds is the climb to the top of Monks Mound, 156 steps, where the leader of the historic Native American's lived. Cahokia Mounds Interpretive Center is a good place to cool off on a hot summer day, start your tour with the 17 minute film. Guided outdoor tours are available during summer, but they always have taped tours, guide books, or IPOD. The IPODS are not an app, but a rental for $5. Check out the web site for hours, as they some times change due to budget cuts. Only thing not available is food, so pack your picnic and ask to use the patio or picnic area. Great place to get perspective on America prior to 1492! And Don't go to Cahokia IL ---it's in Collinsville, IL.
