Heritage Museum, Berger- Kiel Log House - Mascoutah, Illinois
This farmstead site includes one large barn, two smaller machine sheds, a slaughter house, a wash house/summerkithcen type of structure, a chicken house, and a dog house. There is also a working well. An outhouse will be reconstructed in the future.

This predominately rural landscape is home to the Center for American Archeology, located in Kampsville, Illinois. Originally formed in 1953, the CAA’s mission is to discover and disseminate the unwritten story of earlier Americans’ lifeways, accomplishments, and changing natural environment.

The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows - Belleville, Illinois
The nation’s largest outdoor shrine is a peaceful spiritual retreat set on 200 beautifully landscaped acres. Twelve devotional areas offer places to pray, reflect or simply meditate. One of the most popular is the Lourdes Grotto, a replica of the famed shrine in France. Visitors are welcome to walk or drive the grounds. A free guided trolley tour is also available.
